Stephanie grew up in Shoreview, Minnesota, started playing piano at age six and violin at age nine. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in music from St. Olaf College in 2003. While at St. Olaf, she was the principal second violin of the St. Olaf Orchestra, alto in the St. Olaf Cantorei, and conductor, trombonist, string bassist, and percussionist for the Valhalla Band. She was also a member of a piano trio, string octet, string quartet, and chamber orchestra. She performed on National Public Television and Public Radio International for the St. Olaf Christmas Festival, and had the wonderful opportunity to perform with Garrison Keillor on A Prairie Home Companion. She has soloed on tour with school orchestras in Italy and Austria, and played for world premieres of several pieces as a solo performer and an orchestra member.
Stephanie has been teaching private lessons since she was 16, starting out as a studio teacher for Schmitt Music, and taught classes for the Mounds View Public Schools summer string program for five years. She has worked within a self-contained special education classroom and created original music curriculum for students with developmental disabilities. She is currently a member of the worship leadership team at Bethany Baptist Church in Roseville and is an active solo performer on violin, viola, and piano. Stephanie has been a member of Exultate Chamber Orchestra, a substitute for the Bloomington Symphony, and will be starting with the St. Cloud Symphony this fall.
Besides being a music fanatic, Stephanie enjoys cooking and obsessively watching the Food Network, rollerblading, salsa dancing, traveling, and reading. Email Me: Stephanie |
