During her senior year of high school she was awarded two college scholarships for music study. Diana attended Pensacola Christian College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Music in 2002. After college, she began teaching private piano lessons in Minneapolis area. Currently, Diana is a student at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, pursuing a Master of Arts in Music Education as well as teaching piano. Upon graduation from St. Thomas, Diana plans to expand her studio and offer a greater variety of musical programs.
Mission
Music is all around us, and it is to the benefit of our children that they are able to understand it. My mission is to teach its students the concepts of music and the techniques of the piano in a way that they will be able to enjoy making music, both individually and corporately for their entire life. This mission is accomplished by teaching the whole of music through creative instruction.
Sing and Play
Do you know of a group of three to eight preschoolers who are interested in having a great time learning about music and the piano? Preschool is an excellent time to begin learning about music and the piano. With a little help from mom or dad (or both!), children as young as four can successfully play songs on the piano and begin to read music notation. Students in Sing and Play classes have a great time singing songs and playing games that teach musical concepts. Sing and Play is a three year course for those starting at age four and is a two year course for those beginning at age five (in kindergarten). Graduates of Sing and Play will be ready to start private lessons at age seven or may transfer to private lessons at the discretion of the teacher. (Home practice is recommended, but not required) Private Lessons:Children beginning piano lessons at six, seven, or beyond will have private instruction which is tailored to fit the individual needs of each student. The teacher will make every effort to see that private lesson students have occasion for performance and group work. (Students must have daily access to a piano or keyboard with weighted keys [e.g. Yamaha Clavinova] for at home practice.)
